So you've never been to a strip club? Feeling a little anxious or scared? Afraid people might judge you? Here are some tips for first time visitors and strip club newbs.
#1- TIP THE DANCERS! Strippers are workers and workers deserve to be paid for their services, whether it be visual entertainment through dancing or providing companionship and conversation. Dancers are independently contracted business women. They are not paid an hourly wage by the bar they work at, they earn a living based off tips. If you enjoy what you see, TIP HER!
#2- If you don't like the dancer don't sit at the stage! It's rude to watch a lady dance and not tip, or worse, sit on your phone like a child protesting that she isn't your type. Don't sit at the stage waiting for your girl to go on next, Be a gentleman and remove yourself from the stage area so someone else can sit and enjoy the show.
#3- Respect the ladies.
Coinciding with the previous rule, don't talk shit or insult the girls. Whether it be to another customer or dancer, word gets a round real quick, especially among coworkers. The same could be applied to your fellow patrons and bartenders around you. Many people in strip clubs and titty bars are all friends.
#4- Don't ask a girl her real name.
It's tacky. Some dancers use a fake name and some do not. Either way it's not really any of your business. You can walk in and use a fake name too if you want. Strippers won't question your real name, so respect their privacy and don't question theirs.
#4- No photos.
There is a high possibility that you will have the best night of your life at a strip club, but please be considerate to the other patrons by not taking any selfies or video calls while in the building. It should also be a no brainer that it's a big no-no to take photos or videos of the dancers as well.
#5- It's not a karaoke bar.
If a song that sparks a memory plays or you're feeling tipsy and know the words, no one wants to hear you sing the song that a girl is dancing to. Also, leave the dancing to the professionals on stage. Believe it or not customer injuries from dancing with themselves are more common than you think.
#6- It's not crowd funding.
Dancers love the attention of happy patrons crowding her stage, as long as each person is tipping appropriately. Don't think that just because there are a lot of other people tipping that a dancer can't do basic math. A five dollar bill won't impress her when it's you and four of your friends watching. That tip is still just a dollar each, and it's insulting if you are all sitting at her stage.
#7- Claps don't pay the bills.
It's pretty self explanatory, but a performer would much rather have dollars than hollers.
#8- Make sure your friend or partner is cool with going too.
If you bring a friend, or even a girlfriend, make sure they know where you two are going. Nothing is more embarrassing for you than to be flirting with a girl while your friend has a tantrum in the seat next to you -or worse- your girlfriend getting mad that half naked women are all around you.
